Whoa Buddy, Catch Up (Part II)

December, oh man, this was a busy one!! SpecialManFriend was traveling a lot during the first couple weeks, so Murph-Dog and I were pretty much on our own to do some Christmas shopping and lots of holiday baking.

The day after SMF got home from one of his trips, we got on the Clipper to Victoria, BC to visit one of my best friends, Anna, and her fiancé, Jamie. While there, SMF wanted to see Butchart Gardens all lit up for the holidays. If you have never done this, I highly recommend it. It has millions of lights strung over everything, an ice skating rink, a carousel and carolers. So fun!

As we walked along, we were on a dark path where all I could see ahead was an arbor covered in lights and then darkness again. We reached the arbor and SMF stopped—and this is where my memory gets a little blurry and crazy. He started saying all these nice things about how he loved me, and some others that I couldn’t hear over my heart pounding like a bass drum. After what seemed like a million years and a split second at the same time, he got down on ONE KNEE and asked me to marry him!!! Ummm, yes please!!! I really couldn’t tell you what happened next except we found an older couple down the path that didn’t know how to use our new-fangled camera and took a blurry photo of us as I tried to catch my breath from crying so hard.

SMF and I have been on some great trips together, but needless to say, this was the best!

We were able to celebrate with my family as soon as we were back in Seattle, and a couple weeks later, flew to Minnesota to spend Christmas with Mark’s family. What a special time to share with them!

All in all, to say December was amazing is an understatement. I am beyond excited to be marring my best friend this summer, he is honestly the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Stay tuned to see wedding planning photos and updates!
